What is it?
Base64 turns any file into plain letters and digits. For SVG it is useful wherever only Base64 is accepted, for example in some email clients, JSON APIs or older tools.
How it works
Paste your SVG or choose a file. Pick data URI, Base64 only, CSS or an HTML tag and copy the result.
FAQ
- Base64 or URL encoding?
- For CSS, URL encoding is usually shorter. Base64 is about 33 percent larger than the original but works everywhere a data URI is accepted.
- Are umlauts and emoji supported?
- Yes. The SVG is encoded as UTF-8 before the Base64 step, so special characters survive the round trip.
- Is there a size limit?
- Inputs up to 5 MB are converted directly in your browser. Large data URIs slow pages down, so keep embedded graphics small.
